Oregon Film Trail Unveils New Sign In Silver Falls State Park
-An Oregon Film Trail sign for Silver Falls State Park, celebrating the starring role the park played as a location in Twilight.
Silver Falls State Park, August 2020
The 15th sign on the Oregon Film Trail will be installed this month at the Howard Creek Trailhead parking lot near the campground. This sign marks filming locations related to the popular romantic vampire fantasy feature film, Twilight, that was based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel of the same name. The film was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, starred Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson and was the first film in this popular saga series. Visitors and movie fans will be able to stand next to the sign and see one of the Twilight locations behind them (the opening deer hunting scene) among others close by that filmed in the Park. Other films have used Silver Falls State Park as a filming location, such as the William Friedkin thriller, The Hunted, the horror movie, Just Before Dawn and the opening scenes from Warner Bros. animated feature, Yogi Bear.

Oregon Film Trail Unveils New Sign In Oregon City
A new Oregon Film Trail sign has been installed and was unveiled today in Oregon City, honoring the town’s starring role as a location in the popular teen drama, Twilight. It sits along the McLoughlin Promenade, overlooking the former Blue Heron paper mill where scenes from the iconic vampire movie were shot. The Mill has also been featured in The Hunted and Grimm. The Works Progress Administration-era Promenade has itself been featured in scenes from The Librarians and Trinkets.
The current pandemic situation didn’t allow for a large public dedication but instead, City officials and local tourism advocates attended a photo opportunity with the sign at the dedication. Oregon Film was there to help celebrate and welcome the 27th sign to the Oregon Film Trail. The sign was placed along the Promenade’s walking path, with an extraordinary view of the mill, Downtown Oregon City and the Willamette River. The Downtown has itself been the used in the filming of movies that include Bandits and Homer and Eddie.
Thank you to Oregon Film and the Historial Oregon Film Trail for providing this updated information on the new Twilight filming locations signs.
